No doubt, ChatGPT introduced AI to everyone. It is the most popular AI chat platform that can perform any task for you, including writing, researching, and creating images. But it is not the only AI chatbot in the world.
Besides ChatGPT, there are many more AI platforms that offer different AI models with increased capabilities. They also outperform ChatGPT for specific use cases.
In this post, we’re going to look at some of the best ChatGPT alternatives that you should try out. I’ve tested these AI models and shared my favorite one at the end of this post. Let’s get into it.
1. Claude
Claude is the only AI model capable of competing head-to-head with ChatGPT. Its writing style feels more natural and human than ChatGPT. With the introduction of its latest 3.5 Sonnet model and artifacts, it has become more powerful.

Artifacts shows you the code snippets and runs them in the browser itself. The Claude 3.5 Sonnet excels in comprehension, reasoning, and output. It has a 200K token context window. The only downside is that it can’t generate images, while ChatGPT can do it.
Claude is free to use, but there are very strict usage limits. After a few messages, Opus, the older model, will take over. The pro plan costs $20/month, which is the same as ChatGPT Plus. It gives you a higher usage limit, as well as access to Haiku and Opus.
2. Gemini
Google’s Gemini (previously Bard) entered the AI market after ChatGPT and has released regular updates. It is superior to ChatGPT in terms of internet access. Gemini is a Google product, so it has live access to real-time information via Google search results.

Its image generation capability is below average when compared to ChatGPT. If you use apps by Google, such as Google Docs, Drive, and Gmail, then you’re lucky. Gemini has been integrated with all these apps, which makes most of the task easy.
Gemini is free for all, and it uses the Gemini Pro 1.0 model. The premium plan costs $19.99/month and gives you access to Gemini Advanced, which includes the Gemini 1.5 Pro next-gen model, a 1 million token context window, and integration with Gmail, Docs, Slides, and more.
3. Perplexity
Perplexity is a conversational AI chatbot that is very similar to Gemini. It searches different websites and cites sources. You can even instruct it to focus on academics, videos, and social media sources and ask follow-up questions. It is factually correct most of the time.

The best use case of Perplexity is for research, as you can get deep information on a certain topic. But it’s not limited to research; it can write anything for you, just like ChatGPT, and also generate images for the written information.
Perplexity is free to use and employs a standard AI model. Its pro plan costs $20/month (same as ChatGPT) and gives you 600 pro searches per day, as well as AI models like GPT-4o, Claude-3, Sonar Large, and so on. You can also visualize up to 50 answers a day.
4. Microsoft Copilot
Copilot (formerly Bing AI) is Microsoft’s AI product that lets you search the web with the Bing search engine. Microsoft has now integrated it with Windows 11, the Microsoft Edge browser, and Microsoft 365 apps. It can even locate coupon codes for you across all major shopping sites.

With a dedicated compose tab, you can generate blog posts using different tones, formats, and lengths. Copilot’s Designer can generate stunning images using DALL-E, which you can edit and customize. It also offers some plugins for more functionality.
Copilot is completely free to use. You can search and generate images and articles for free. Copilot Pro costs $20 a month and includes Microsoft 365 app integration, priority access during peak times, and 100 daily boosts for image generation.
5. Poe
Poe is not an AI model or chatbot; it is a platform that allows you to use the various AI models available. This includes all GPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama, and StableDiffusion models. You’re free to use any chatbot, and you don’t have to visit their sites separately.

Creators on Poe have created their own chatbots, just like custom GPTs on ChatGPT. You can chat with these bots or even create your own. The Creator Monetization Program pays you when users engage with your bots. You can set the price.
Poe works on compute points, and you get 300 points daily for free, but they get used pretty quickly. When you subscribe to Poe ($19.99/month), you get 1 million compute points and access to all limited bots, including GPT-4-Turbo and Claude-3-Opus.
6. Meta AI
Meta AI is powered by the Llama 3 model, which is open source. It is completely free to use and doesn’t offer any premium subscriptions. You can access Meta AI on your WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram accounts. It also creates realistic images for you.

Meta AI can create short video clips from your images and animate them. It also suggests Instagram reels based on your request. To use it, you can tag it in a WhatsApp chat. The model Llama 3 is also available on Poe.
Conclusion
While ChatGPT is an all-rounder, other AI platforms are also good, with their own specializations and functionalities. I mostly use ChatGPT for my work, but besides that, my favorite is Claude AI. It writes better than ChatGPT. It is your decision to select any model, use it for free, or subscribe to any plan.
